It's crazy to me how much your creativity opens up when it comes to making a self-portrait. There's no direct way you can imagine yourself. So at this point, you're able to open up what you see yourself as within your mind and copy that image down, without anyone telling you that you did it incorrectly.  In this week's class, our goal was to create a self-portrait. In the self-portrait, you had to use what we learned in class about  Csikszentmihalyi and his  Ten Dimensions of Complexity.   For my portrait, I decided to implement the  alternative between my imagination and fantasy, and a rooted sense of reality. I often find myself deep in thought, with my  imagination and it takes me to a different reality almost, whenever I'm so deep into my imagination. Yet, I know already that I can't really express the many thoughts in my mind into reality because of many factors; being judged, the thoughts not being realistic enoug...

Through a Lens

This week's class was very interesting. We were able to open up our creativity a little bit more by becoming "nature photographers". This exercise gravitated me to explore campus per usual, but this time in detail. The images we were supposed to take were to represent four different themes; light, texture, color, and form in space. For my light image, I walked out and immediately saw the sun poking behind the Callaway Building, yet it had a show on it. I know this is from the window on the building in front of the sign, but it was very contradicting to see the sun behind, yet having a shadow in front.  For texture, I took. full image of just the spikey plants that you see everywhere in the south. Altogether it looks so cool. I loved the ombre of pink in the middle of the flower, and how it has this almost "star point" type of thing going on. I put my camera on flash just to show the great detail that this image has. Lastly form in space, which I took an image of...

This week's class was about the flow state. Which is essentially stepping into your "zone" while completing a  task so in-depth, that you lose a sense of time. Learning about it in class, I realized I entered the flow state plenty of times. For instance whilst braiding hair. Doing hair can be seen as a task since you have to part the hair neatly, gather the hair, attach the braiding hair, and braid it all the way down to client's hips. Long hair is the trend nowadays. I chose to write my poem for the class based on a specific time while I was doing hair, and someone else was in the room watching me. I have anxiety really bad so I get extremely anxious when people are watching me. I've been trying to challenge myself by going for anything, which is why I volunteered to go early on during the open mic. I described the other person's eyes watching me as "beams of heat" on the back of my neck, while my palms were really sweaty due to the nervousness. A...
